A Music-Art Post in Honour of the Late, and Great Singer, Warrel Dane, of the Bands NEVERMORE & Sanctuary – b. March 7, 1961 – d. December 13, 2017

The Year of the Voyager“, NEVERMORE – Live Performances from various shows, including their concert at the Zeche in Bochum, Germany. This is a FANTASTIC two-hours (plus) music documentary/concert that displays, in my opinion, why the band NEVERMORE is one of the best metal bands of all time. Much of what makes NEVERMORE great is due to Warrel Dane’s song storytelling, and also, Jeff Loomis’s song writing and virtuoso guitar skills.

I wanted to remember this year to make a post to honour the great Metal singer, Warrel Dane, who died on December 13, 2017, in Brazil, while working on his second solo music project, “Shadow Work“, released posthumously, on 26 Oct. 2018.

He had several health issues, including type 2 diabetes, and unfortunately while working on the project, he suffered a massive heart attack on the night of 13 December 2017, in São Paulo, Brazil. According to the guitarist of his solo project, Johnny Moraes, Warrel “died in the night. He had a heart attack …. [Moraes] gave him cardiac massage and…called the Mobile Emergency Care Service (SAMU), who came very fast, but when they arrived, he was already dead.” ( “NEVERMORE And SANCTUARY Singer WARREL DANE Dies Of Heart Attack In Brazil”Blabbermouth.net. December 13, 2017.) Warrel also suffered from longtime alcohol abuse, which no doubt added to his health problems.

The following is a documentary containing video footage from the recordings and interviews with his solo project band members, and his producer, Wagner Meirinho, and it also contains some excerpts from songs on the project.

Warrel Dane is indeed, missed. His death was a great loss to the Metal Music scene, but he left an amazing legacy behind for everyone to enjoy and appreciate.
